Fort Myers Beach Restaurants Are Local Treasures.
Service with a smile is the norm at our Ft. Myers Beach restaurants. From the affordable, family friendly to the gourmet options, you won’t be disappointed. Ft. Myers Beach offers a wide selection of colorful establishments, from casual beach-side spots to bistros serving fine wine and gourmet specialties. Our fine Ft. Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce member restaurants speak for themselves and do not stay secrets for long.
Ft. Myers Beach restaurants are as creative and unique as their names and their differences in menus and ambiance. Of course, you’ll want to plan at least a few of your meals to include the tastes of our own native seafood harvest, fresh off the docks and delivered to our local restaurants. Choose from grouper to mullet, pompano, red snapper and shrimp to stone crab – served in surroundings that reflect the relaxed Florida lifestyle.
Fort Myers, FL — Chefs (or presumed chefs) are invited to participate in the fifth annual Great American Chili Cook- Off on Sunday, July 19, at the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina on Fort Myers Beach. The contest is being sponsored by the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Culinary Federation and will benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
The contest will be limited to 30 teams or individuals. Each chili entrant will be charged $40. Teams or individuals will be permitted to set up starting at 10 a.m. There will be a cooks’ meeting at 1 p.m.
The event is open to the public, beginning at 3 p.m. The public is encouraged to bring a $5 cash donation as well as canned and dry food donations for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Both a “people’s choice” and “most unique” award will be voted on by the public.
All chili must be prepared on site from scratch with natural ingredients in the open. Cooks must bring a printed recipe card. Specific guidelines and registration may be obtained by contacting Chef Dave Rashty at 239-463-8613 or email@example.com.
Judging starts at 4 p.m. and will be based on the following criteria: aroma, consistency, color, taste and aftertaste. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st place, medal and $250 cash; 2nd place, medal and $100 cash; and 3rd place, medal and $50 cash. Both the “people’s choice” and “best table decorations” will receive medals.
