Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce member restaurants speak for themselves and do not stay secrets for long.

Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts presents Southwest Florida Sustains: A Regional Seafood Experience

Following their mission to bring visual and performing arts to the Fort Myers Beach community, Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts continue this path by including culinary arts with their latest foray – Southwest Florida Sustains – A Regional Seafood Experience, Thursday, Oct. 20 from 6 – 9 p.m. at DiamondHead Beach Resort and Spa, 2000 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, produced and benefiting Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts.

SWFL Sustains is chef-driven event which includes live music by Joseph Bilardo Trio. To date, restaurants like Pinchers, Charley’s Boat House and Grille, Smokin’ Oyster Brewery, Fish Tale Restaurant and DiamondHead Resort with more to follow will present their sustainable seafood samplings. Point Ybel Brewing Company will offer craft brew samplings as well.

In order to illustrate what seafood sustainability is, marine biologist, Dr. Steve Box, sustainability and coral reefs expert from the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce will give a presentation about the importance of sustainability of the regional waters and catch during the event. To learn more, Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Guides will be available for patrons at the event. There will be a small, related silent auction to help fundraising efforts.
