Artist of the Month 

Enjoy JD Burdge’s “Floribbean” paintings throughout the 3rd Floor Commons Area. JD is the artist responsible for our beautiful underwater scene in the elevator shaft.  He will also be here in person twice a week throughout the month painting new pictures.  Look for “the artist is in” signs in the lobby on the days he is on the 3rd floor painting.    

FMB Community Foundation 

Monday, February 1 – Friday, February 12,  9-5pm, 3rd Floor Commons

The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation will be selling raffle tickets for gift baskets to be awarded at their virtual fashion show being held on February 13.

Children’s story time can now be viewed on our Facebook page. A new story posts every Wednesday.   Materials for the accompanying craft activity can be picked up afterwards in the Children’s area and completed at home.     

Florida Friendly Landscaping Workshop    

Monday, February, 1, 10am-Noon, ZOOM Presentation

This workshop is presented by the Lee County Extension Master Gardeners and explores the nine principles of a Florida Friendly Landscape using low maintenance plants and environmentally sustainable practices.  For those interested, this 2 hour class is the first step in obtaining official yard recognition.

Journaling for Joy

Join Patrice Koerper Robson to try something new.  This session is all about writing for fun and increased positivity.  Writing helps clarify feelings and memories and can help create new dreams and aspirations.  It is free, fun and provides lasting positive effects.  The power of writing has been documented in positive psychology studies of all types.  Have pen and paper ready Also bring sketch paper, colored pencils, glitter pens or whatever fosters your creativity.

Edison in Florida

DL Havlin, local author and historian, will be here to talk about one of the world’s greatest inventors and his life in the Sunshine State.  Edison chose to spend his winters in Fort Myers not based on the weather or ease of access; but rather reasons tied directly to his research projects.  His selection had a major impact on those projects and an impact on the future of the area.  Learn how SWFL became a magnet for famous industrialists, financiers, and other famous individuals.  Edison’s unique personality and mind are important to understand what sparked his genius.

Frauds, Scams and Identity Theft

Join Kim Swanson, with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to find out how best to protect yourself from becoming a victim and learn about the many types of identity thefts happening in our world (ranging from children to the deceased having their identity stolen, medical ID theft and a host of other types.)  Learn how to be vigilant of skimmers at gas stations and ATMs and what to do when you get an unwanted telephone call.
