Holiday Nights Opening Night

November 26, 6 p.m. 

Edison and Ford Winter Estates

Join us for the kickoff of the 46th Annual Holiday Nights celebration with a tree lighting ceremony. The annual tree lighting will take place at the base of the historic Mysore Fig, on the Henry Ford property. Entertainment will be offered as a part of the ceremony. Holiday Nights is open nightly through January 2 for self-guided admission from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and special Holiday Tradition tours led by an experienced Site Historian are offered at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Ford Cottage Shoppe, Museum Store, and Garden Shoppe are open nightly, and stocked with unique gift items for that hard-to-buy for loved one. Annual Bromeliad Show and Sale

December 4-5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Join us for our annual Bromeliad Sale in partnership with the Caloosahatchee Bromeliad Society!  The judged show will take place on the museum porch, next to the Garden Shoppe. Bromeliad growers will have tents under the oak trees, near the historic Banyan and will offer hundreds of different species, including exotic and rare plants for sale. Several experts will be on hand from the Society to answer questions about Bromeliads.

A limited number of garden carts will be available; guests are encouraged to bring their own. Parking and admission to the sale is free (does not include tours or admission to the museum, lab, or riverside of the property).

Boondoogle Weaving Class with Artist Megan Kissinger

December 5, 2021 at 10 a.m.

Edison and Ford Winter Estates

Join us for a special Boondoogle Palm Crafting Class! Local artist, Megan Kissinger, will teach participants how to make woven crafts that they can take home. In the class, students will learn the basics of making a boondoggle. They will start by making a small ornament, and then will make a wreath from a single palm frond. Both crafts will be theirs to keep after the class and can be used as holiday decorations or given away as gifts.

All the materials and tools will be provided but students may bring their own specially chosen ribbons and their own scissors. Participants are also encouraged to bring snacks or a bag lunch. The class will take place outdoors in the river pavilion, along the Caloosahatchee River.

To ensure adequate supplies, registration is required before 5 p.m. on Friday, December 3. Register online at edisonford.org or call 239-334-7419. E-tickets should be redeemed at the ticket counter for a wristband (on the day of the class).

Cost: Edison Ford members: $40; non-members: $60. Materials are included in the fee.


Holiday Centerpiece Terrarium Class

Join us for this fun garden class where participants will create their own glass terrarium centerpieces. Edison and Ford horticulturists will go through the step-by-step process on how to assemble these pieces. These beautiful decorations can be displayed throughout your home or can make a great gift for a loved one. Plants and materials will be provided. Advanced registration through edisonford.org is required by December 4. All participants will receive a 20% off coupon towards plant purchases in the Garden Shoppe.

Digital Discussion: Holiday Traditions During the Civil War

Silk Scarf Painting Class with Marie Dyer

Join us for a silk scarf painting class with Marie Dyer along the Caloosahatchee River! Participants will make a 14” X 72” silk scarf that can be worn or hung as a piece of artwork. They also make great holiday gifts for a loved one or close acquaintance. All materials are included in the fee. To ensure adequate supplies are available, please register online at edisonford.org at least 24 hours in advance. E-tickets can be redeemed at the ticket counter for a wristband.

The class will take place outdoors in the river pavilion.
