St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church will open its doors and grounds to the community’s beloved pets on Saturday, September 27 at 10:00 AM for the annual Blessing of the Pets, a tradition celebrating St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.
From dogs and cats to birds, rabbits, reptiles, and even fish, all creatures are welcome—whether in person on a leash or in a carrier, or represented by a photo. The blessing honors the special role pets play in our lives and God’s creation.
“This event is always filled with joy, laughter, and sometimes a little barking,” said Ellie Bunting, a long time member of the parish. “It’s a reminder of the love and companionship animals bring, and we are delighted to share this celebration with the entire community.”
The service will be held outdoors, weather permitting, and followed by light refreshments. Families, children, and animal lovers of every kind are encouraged to attend.
