Phase 3 Of Re-Open Florida Information
Phase 3 Of Re-Open Florida Plan
Be advised, there is still a mask mandate in effect on Fort Myers Beach. According to the ordinance, residents must wear masks when they go into a business and they must wear them outside if they cannot social distance. In the town’s ordinance businesses can be fined $500 if they do not comply.
In restaurants customers must wear a mask inside until they are seated and they must wear their mask when they get up to go to the restroom. All employees must also wear masks.
On Friday September 25th, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the state will move to Phase 3 of his “Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan” for Re-Opening Florida, including allowing restaurants to operate at full capacity, effective immediately. “What that means for restaurants is that there will not be limitations in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said. “I think this will be very important to the industry.” The order also preempts local governments’ abilities to close businesses and assess fines on individuals, it prohibits local governments from collecting fines stemming from such pandemic related mandates as mask requirements and it lifts any restrictions on gatherings, (although the state is still recommending that people avoid crowded spaces).
The order further lifts capacity restrictions nearly all businesses including amusement parks, entertainment venues, concert houses, auditoriums, gyms, libraries, museums and movie theaters.
Other changes include
- Gyms and fitness centers should open to full capacity but should maintain adequate sanitation practices among employees and patrons during all hours of operation.
- Theme parks may return to normal operations with limited social distancing protocols.
- Vacation Rentals should resume normal operating procedures but should continue to thoroughly clean and disinfect the property between rentals.
- Operators of retail businesses should operate at full capacity but should continue to maintain adequate sanitation practices for employees and patrons.
