Voices from the Storm

This unique event is designed to give all participants an opportunity to tell their hurricane stories in small groups to promote healing. Storytelling is a proven tool in disaster recovery and is the tool that sets this event apart from others that have been held in the community in the last year.

This event will begin at 9:00 with a brief introduction to the concept of storytelling to heal. The attendees will then break into small groups where they will be given prompts to write about their hurricane experiences.  Afterwards, participants will share their written stories either within their group or with another individual.  The event will end at noon, but people will be able to linger and talk about their experiences in more depth if time allows.

Dr. Antoinette Kruse, the founder and CEO of the Providence New Life Center and her staff will lead the discussions.  Dr. Kruse is a University of Michigan trained Clinical Social Work Administrator and Trama Professional committed to helping individuals live their most meaningful and fulfilling lives.
