175 Sterling Ave. Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
Hear the dramatic tale of Najibullah Torakai and his family and their escape from a country overtaken by the Taliban.
Najibullah worked for the Ministry of Education and was responsible for getting 3.9 million Afghan school age children into a school.
At 12:00pm on August 29th, he and his family had 15 minutes to make decisions to leave their home and go to the airport with only cloths on their backs.
The journey did not end there, it took 2 months to finally get out of the country and another 2 two months living at a military base in New Jersey.
The Lutheran Services Florida assisted the family and relocated them to Fort Myers Beach. Since then, they have been overwhelmed with kind and generous assistance from the residents of our island.
This is an incredible journey of courage and perseverance that you will not want to miss.
We invite you to listen to the Torakai Family story.
WHEN: Wednesday, February 2nd from 6:45- 7:45 pm
WHERE: Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling Ave, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931
