San Carlos Bay Sail & Power Squadron: 2018-19 Public Classes

We offer several classes to increase boater knowledge and skills. These classes are open to the public (membership in USPS is not required). The classes are presented as a public service by the Squadron and are taught by experienced Squadron members at our Squadron facility at 16048 San Carlos Boulevard in Fort Myers. Advance reservations are required as space is limited. Payment is by cash or check. To enroll or obtain further information, please call the Squadron at (239) 466-4040 and leave a message. America’s Boat Course is our basic boating class. The class will cover the basics of boat handling, PWCs, required equipment, navigation aids and rules, and dealing with emergencies. It will provide instruction on the laws and regulations of the State of Florida and students who pass the exam receive a Florida Boater’s Card. The course is a total of 8 hours spread over two Saturdays. Lunch is provided on the second Saturday. Cost of the class is $60.00 for an individual or, $90.00 for a couple sharing materials that include the Course Book, pamphlets on federal requirements, trailering, aids to navigation and more. Students may be eligible for Jump Start, the USPS on-the-water course for new boat owners offered at no charge for those who complete ABC. ABC will be offered on these dates: Dec. 8-15; Jan. 12- 19; Feb. 9-16; Mar. 9-16; April 6-13. Classes run from 8:30-12:30 with registration at 8:15.
